Blake Wilson is the Theatre Arts Director at Orange High School in Hillsborough, NC. Originally from Atlanta, GA, Mr. Wilson has been a theatre artist, educator, and administrator for nearly 17 years. Since arriving at OHS, he has directed productions of The 39 Steps, Frankenstein, The Outsiders, Kodachrome, Red Bike, and most recently, Badger. He also serves as the sponsor of the student-run Drama Club and the International Thespian Society.
Prior to arriving at OHS, Mr. Wilson resided in Fort Worth, Texas, where he taught high school theatre and was adjunct faculty at Tarrant County College. In 2016, his school’s production of Lauren Gunderson’s Silent Sky was ranked in the top twelve of high school theatre productions in the Texas UIL 6A One-Act Play competition (out of more than 250 participating schools). That year, he was named Fine Arts Teacher of the Year for his department and was also awarded the student-chosen “Walt Disney Award” for ‘encouraging students’ creativity’ by his school’s chapter of Texas Association of Future Educators.
Mr. Wilson has also worked as an arts administrator with organizations including Louisiana State University, The Irondale Ensemble Project (NYC), and QSpeak Theatre (Phoenix, AZ)
Mr. Wilson has also worked as a freelance director & stage manager with a variety of organizations, including Greasepaint Youth Theatre, Free Arts Arizona, the Festival of New Work at Arizona State University, and the Bloomington Playwrights Project (Bloomington, IN). Other directing credits include Clock Without Hands, an original ensemble-created work inspired by the writings of Carson McCullers and The Life and Times of Tulsa Lovechild. As a native of Atlanta, Mr. Wilson has worked in various capacities with several theatre companies there, including: Horizon Theatre, PushPush Theater, Synchronicity Performance Group, and Process Theatre.
