So it's over...no really it is!

Teachers report back today so technically summer - I'm moving into a new bracket of aging so my 20's - and our first week of Blocking rehearsals are OVER!

There is good and bad in all of that.  I'm going to try and keep BLOGGING it out during the school year - but they might not be as often as we may like.  I've written a bunch and only recieved like one comment.  Yes I'm a comment hefer.  So send them in.

 BLOCKING IS ALMOST DONE:
Time for actors to start taking it into their own hands and letting me worry about everything else.

Students are coming back next WEDNESDAY!  Not so sure about that - but that means that we will be doing 2 plays again at once.  Not so sure about that either.  Classes look good - some are big and some are the right size, but nonetheless they are geting ready to start all over again.

It's always good to hear and see ALUMNI.  I really do appriciate when they come back and talk or chat or update or anything - I really like it when they come back and support the path that they have created for so many other students.  Pride - may be the one thing I'm going to focus on teaching this year - along with Profesionalism.   Cause apprently anyhting that theatre that happens in Opelika, goes through me...thanks IOWA ALUMNI MAGAZINE!

Speaking of which if you didn't hear - myself and the CATS were featured in a article all the way up in IOWA CITY, IA.  I'll try to link you in here ....

I think you'll have to log in with the word FOSSIL to read it...but enjoy!

Time keeps on slipping...

Into the future!  Carpe Diem!  Sorry, trying some self motivaiton as it seems the end of the summer is inevitable.  Sorry to all you students and more importantly teachrs who are gearing up for another year - again.

Rehearsal started yesterday - it went as well as could be assumed - we are at least on schedule.  So after day one.  No worries.

Don't have a whole lot to say today I guess.  If you know me, then you know how I feel about Tuesdays.  Oh, you don't know me - well then I dislike Tuesday more than any other day in the week.  First of all I think people give Monday a bad rap.  Monday is really not that bad if you take a step back and look at a Monday.  You have had 2 days off most of the time, and it's the start.  You should always be excited at the start.  Wednesday is the Humpday - Thursday is the day before Firday - and Friday is the day before the weekend.  But TUESDAY!  On a Tuesday you only have one day behind you and three days in front of you still to go.  You probably used a lot of energy getting excited for the start of the week - so on Tuesday you are kind of drained.  So Tuesday sould be your bad day - not Monday - lay off the Monday hating...

And it begins...

That is all I have to say I hope - ohh it's not fine...

What begins? You ask:
1.  Rehearsal today at 3:00

2.  Teachers report Thursday at 7:30

3.  Students report a week from Wednesday at 7:55

3.5  Which technically means that "The Lady or the Tiger" starts on Wednesday as well.

4.  Jr. Miss is in less than a month

5.  Oh and BBM is ultimately less than 2 months away.

So yes it has begun and I guess whether or not I'm ready it's going to keep on coming.  Have a lot to get done before today even gets going. I guess I'll do it when my watch says it's time.

Where is the motivation...

Okay I know I couldn't BLOG from the beach but c'mon...where is my motivation to BLOG.  I need some support here.  I mean it doesn't really take that long to comment and it makes me feel good.

So yes I'm back for good...Since rehearsals start in ummm 3 days.  Yeah about that - you all had better be ready.  It's going to be a very intense year.  On a 10 point scale and grading this year I would say, "This one goes to 11"  Anyone - anyone...

Beach was cool - lots of Jelly Fish, but I toughed it out to catch a few waves.  The weather cooperated for the most part.

If anyone hasn't seen Batman yet you should run not walk.  I know everyone is pumping it up and talking about how great everything is, and well I have to say it's pretty true.  Not sure if I like it better than Batman Begins but it was masterfully done!  Alright I have a lot to do before Monday rolls along so I'm off to make a list - don't you just love lists?  Helps to feel accomplished!

Later dudes enjoy your 2nd to last weekend of summer.

It's your last chance...

To say that you still have 2 weeks until rehearsal but then after that it starts with, "this time next week I'll be in rehearsal."  I'm excited - I mean I really am the sudden realization yesterday that the play is in 2 months from this weekend is really intense.

The great custodians of OHS waxed my floor and the opac hallways today so I can't really move around like I would want to - which is why this BLOG is a little later also.  The floor looks great though - and they even painted some of the OAPC - we may have a whole new theatre next season.

Headed to the beach on Sunday so don't come visit or call until I get back on Thursday.  I guess you can call or e-mail or facebook or something - but I wouldn't come visit at the school unless you want to find the room re-arranged and empty.

Talked with KLP about AT: L or the T yesterday and she is totally on board and excited.  Also spoke with Jason Smith new band director of OHS's SPIRIT OF THE SOUTH about Les Miserables S.E. and he is totally on board to play with the ORCHEXTRA!!!

Okay that is is - I'm on vacation but not before I go see Batman today. 12:30 if anyone wants to join me...

Super Excited...

I mean who wouldn't be - we are getting ready to embark on another OHTS, AAEA, OHS, Opelika Community, & anyone else who wants to rent the OPAC, apparently, season of dreams and excitement.  Slightly cynical here.  But I'm finding it hard to focus on too many other things -- rehearsal does start in a week - the play is in 2 months - school starts in less than one - I mean these things are haunting almost.

There was talk of a fundrasier idea for next summer - it is in the works but I won't reveal too much about it yet.

Batman is coming soon - can't wait for that - hope it lives up to the hype!

Ohhh Boy!

Going to be in and out of town again for the next week...so if you wanted to stop by or need me for something it looks like this: (of course I'm here today)
Friday: 8:00 - 12:00
Thursday: 1:00 - 4:00
Friday: 8:00 - 4:00
That schedule actually looks pretty sweet... except for the fact the following Monday is that first rehearsal.  So I'll leave you with that!

I'm Back...

I know you all missed me so.  At least we have a new commenter - thanks to Aunt Blanche for proving that this typing isn't going to waste.

North Carolina was nice - it was good to get outside and see some family and friends.  I think my niece had a good time - she would have rather stayed then come back with us but she is here for a few more days before we try to make the great beach escape.

Brighton Beach is weighing heavily on my mind.  I can't believe this time in two weeks I should be completly blocked and the kids should be getting memorized.  We will see if this group can live up to the expectations I have for them.  I truly can say I don't think my expectations have ever been higher for a group that hasn't proven they can do it without the class who just graduated.  We shall see very soon...

If anyone has any suggestions for the website - like a page or something let me know and I'll try to work on it - or maybe an edit - or maybe a new idea.  Let me know like I said and I'll try to oblige you.  I did the People Crossword today without asking anyone for a clue.  I feel accomplished.

Hope everyone is holding onto their summer nights they are wanning.

The Friday before it's all over --->

Not entirely true...

But next Friday I'll be getting ready to go to the beach and so I won't have much time to focus on doing anything up here at the school.  Plus I have to go back to North Carolina this weekend and pick up Kathryn and my neice (No Madeline not my daughter) Sara who have been at camp for the last 2 weeks -- so I won't be into work on Monday or Tuesday of next week.  Basically shortening up the week already to a Wed. Thurs. Fri. -- so then I'll be at the beach and then by the time the Friday rolls around that is 2 weeks from now - I'll be 2 days away from rehearsal.  That is absolutely NUTS!*&^%^&#!%$

Trying to figure out some T-Shirt ideas for the season shirt next year.  Nothing really established yet.  I told past Super. Dr. P. Raley that we were doing Les Mis. S.E. next year and he nearly fell out of his chair.  He is definetly doubting but very excited.  I love doubt, it makes life a bit more interesting.  That would be a good word for all you Dr. Hannah students next year.  DOUBT...wonder what its definition really is.  Hold on I'm gonna go look it up...looking on the bookshelf for the Webster's...going through the alphabet in my head...and here we go---

DOUBT: an unsettled state of opinon, an objection.  That makes it sound more irratating than cool but I still ike it.  I guess...

Who wants certainty all the time...

More or less later -- may not be back until Wednesday for a BLOG but I might suprise you so keep checking and tell your friends to come read this poop...

So I should probably go ahead and start...

preparing the Theatre for next year.  Since that next year is really - um really close.  Have I said that yet.  I go to the beach in about a week and then the week after that rehearsal starts and then the week after that school starts - deep breaths deep breaths.

Excited to get started for this season - the more I tell people what we are doing they seem to get more and more excited.  So that makes me a little excited after 8 years.  I mean can you believe it's been 8 years.  No time to really reflect on that for too long.  You grows up and sometimes you grows up.  I guess I really never knew what that meant -- still don't.

You leave comments you get shout outs!  Peyton hooked it up yesterday -- so two days in a row. Woop woop.  If anyone knows how to get the word out on Facebook or something cause I don't really know how or I haven't tried really, but pass the word!!  Comments make me want to type more.

Don't have too much more to say today I guess.  I need to stop staying up late and watching movies.  On Demand is a really bad invention.  Still want to go see somthing in the Theatre.  Anyone seen Hancock? or Wanted?  Looking for a little feedback...

The more I sit around...

The less time I am fixin to have.  Looking at a calender last night I realized instead of counting days down from 19 - you can pretty much conclude that this time 2 weeks from now we will be in rehearsal for the fall play.  Ummmm...WOW?!@#%$  I love how they make that a web site cause of the @ sign.

Feel like there aren't too many readers out there right now - Matty B has already forgotten and maybe Peyton or Emmie randomly visit, but there aren't comments flying in the box right now.  I'll forge on as this is a pretty good way to vent a little bit.  Not vent but exercise your creativity - like I need any of that.

If anyone has seen any good movies lately - I might go see one or if anyone wants to go drop me a line.  Last one I saw was INDY and I honestly liked it - I thought it was true to form.  Nice work gentlemen and women.  Okay not much to say today.

THINK we are going to see Les Mis. on September 28th.  Probably about 20 slots so if you wanna go you are gonna need to talk to me as soon as you can.

I can't say I blame you...

I mean I didn't write for almost a whole year -- so I guess I can't expect everyone to just get back on the bandwagon and start commenting and reading this silly thing.

The BAND WAGON...silly!

Got to the top of Kilamnanjaro yesterday, (as Dr. Cox) but it may have been at the cost of my left calf muscle.  Don't know if I can make a return trip to the summitt today.

I didn't really go to this one...

Speaking of the Summitt.  The ACT Summitt meeting is coming up in case anyone thought they may want to attend.  There is nothing quite like large gatherings of weird theatre people (myself included).

20 days - that is all I have to say about that - a select few of you know what that means - or I guess if you have been reading you may know what it means as well.  That is all really for now.

I'm tired...

Not really - I'm just oversleeping I think - which then causes me to not go to sleep at an appropriate time.  Nonetheless I am sleeping, and well I guess sometimes that makes you a bit more tired.

Really no time to be tired - School starts in a month exactly - which means play practice starts in 21 days.  Oh boy - lets get another one fired up and ready to go.

Hope everyone had a safe but fun fourth!  I'm going to need one more beach vacation before it all really hits the fan.  Probably the week before play practice.  That would be ideal.

Don't have much else to say today - I'm gald I don't have a system that plays Guitar Hero / Rock Band - or else I would have purchased that by now.  It's good to have friends who still invest in Video Games!

The first part was about July 4th and fireworks...blah blah blah

Then the second part was about Wesley and I working on the music for The Apple Tree...blah blah blah

There she is...

The third part was about the Iowa Alumni Magazine and the article they did on our program...blah blah cool blah

So that is it - I actually had a lot more to say but it went away...

Thanks to Matty B for reading and posting a message.  Pass the word that we are back up and running.

More money more problems...

Or in a lot of people's case "No Money - Same Problems".  As you can tell I am paying bills right now, not theatre bills, but my own.  Being an Adult is not so much fun sometimes.  Hold onto your youth you young yearlings.  You like that alliteration.  Paying theatre department bills makes me feel like this also!

I'm rearranging the room today if anyone wants to help me finish - and we recieved the score to "The Apple Tree" so we can start on that ASAP!  Oh boy it's time to do it all over again.  Hope someone is reading these or telling people that the site is back up and temporairly running.  I guess I'll have to Facebook post it for that to happen.

I don't know these dudes but they are rich!
