I'm telling you Vacation = Blog Killer

So as I get ready to leave today to go to TEXAS - many things left unfinished.  That is not a good feeling.  It is also the reason for the 2 hour late BLOG.  Good thing there is no punishment for being late on your own BLOG.  I mean really when my Mother is the only one who will leave me some comments - that may be punishment enough.  (No offense to my wonderful mother).

Had to drop Brando and Jackie O off at the pampered pets this morning - and Mr. Darren Dale's Car is in the shop so I had to go pick him up, and well that is my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
My Dog Brando  My other B*/ch Jackie O

Not much to say really today - I want to go to New York and see some shows, but I can't really afford that - I want lots of things I can't afford.  It seems like the more money the more problems.  Am I right or am I right.

I Want One!

Manic Monday...

It's wierd - even though I hardly ever see my wife because of my incredulous hours at the OPAC - and it may be because I woke up a 3:30 am to take her to the airport - but yesterday was one of those Sunday time warps and it is leaking into today.

I did not make it to the gym - that is in poor form.
Thought maybe I'd see some WIMBLEDON but it was raining - dang it.

Chopper view of the Stadium

One of our "many" CATS is locked in the back room until it figures out where he is - long story.
Finally I wanted to get some work in the OPAC done today - WAIT Bus Driver's Day! YEAH...

So any way I guess I'll find something to do - I'm pretty creative when it come to that.

Still going to "Big D - Little a - Double l - a - s" on Tuesday so I'll be out of the town of Opelika for a little while.

I'll still try to BLOG do not know of my computer capablitites where I am going.

Thought I would try West Coast Time..

Really I'm just running a little off schedule today.  You know how I get on those 1/2 Day Friday Summer Daze...ahhh how refreshing.

Lots of people getting their summer vacation(s) started up this weekend - July is just around the corner - which is truly scary.  Speaking of scary I think that new John Cusak / Sam Jackson Movie looks pretty scary 1408 or whatever room number it is.  I know Stephen King wrote it...here you go....

Heading to Dallas next week for a little trip with my wife's family.  Should be fun - I hope I get to ride a horse.  I like pretending to be a cowboy.

That is really all for now - another eventfull day in a eventfull life.

What's in a name...

The Arts Association of East Alabama Mail out goes out on Friday.  That is pretty exciting.  I think it's going to be a really great year.  I'm excited for all of the shows.  I'm not really saying what any of the shows are because I'm not at liberty to say.  Well, I guess I am so if you wanna know you could probably pry it out of me.
GYPSY Dec. 11th 2007

So the OAA is now the AAEA - That is going to take some getting used to...

It made me think about our name- it took me forever to get down to OHTS - Wally and I always had a hard time trying to figure out what to call our troop. (Worst one ever = DRAMA DAWGS) See it's not so easy. I finally settled on Opelika High Theatre Society - it has stuck for almost a whole year now!  There is even going to be a season OHTS shirt with all 3 shows listed on the back.  Get them while they are hot - I mean after they are printed when they are hot...

I didn't want to go to the gym today - but I DID!  I did it for CATS...just kidding I did it for the sweat.  That's your motivation for the day.

That is really all for now.  Little Women Shirts are going to be cool.  Just think frosted orchid.

Zoom zoom zoom...

Sorry - I hate that advertisement also.

But I felt it was appropriate because summer is flying by.  Even the school administrators are saying to jinx it - stop talking about it.  Hey - wake up everyone it's almsot JULY ?!$%$^
Enjoy it while you can!

I have discovered that our ONE ACT VERSION of CATS is a great cardio workout length.  It's almost exactly 35 min.  I just hope noone is watching me as I mouth the words and envision what we are giong to be able to pull off.

Not a pleasant thought - but I was thinking about this upcoming OHTS season - and well I think I've set us up for failure.  I mean don't get me wrong - we won't fail.  I just hope that all the actors are ready to grab the perverbial bull by the perverbial horns and actually "care" about their work.

We'll see - it all starts really soon.

One last note - I think I'm trying to change TRUMBAUER AGAIN!  Sorry - I think it's going to be Nov. 3rd 2007.  Keep checking the web page for updates.  Ohhh and yes INTO THE WOODS PHOTO PAGE is UP and running - I THINK?

At least I felt the guilt..

I tell you what...

Crowd: (sighs) What?

Vacation can kill a BLOG but liberate the SOUL.  Whatever that means.

I went to Jacksonville/St. Augustine this past weekend and just got back yesterday - so there is my excuse for missing two BLOG days.  Like I said in the title at least I felt the guilt.

I can't believe how time is flying - I better get my act together there is plenty of things that really need to ben done this week before I go to Dallas.  That is the crazy thing about summer...you love your vacations but it seems as I get older I take these short little vacations - and that tends to make the summer disappear.

Maybe one big two week vacation is what one is really looking for who knows.  That is all for today.

Congrats to Miss Emmett Smith for making call-backs at Show Choir camp.

One Day to go--for One Week

However - as I fear - today is probably pretty boring.

Still trying to get everything situated after the school year - it takes a little while in the theatre world.  I enjoy everyone saying - you don't have much to do in the summer do you.  Well truth is - it may not be a lot - but it is work that nobody really wants to do.  Including myself - a lot of cleaning and fixing - calling and preparing - so as usual in the theatre things may not be as they appear.  If I'm not working it's because I'm lazy not because I don't have anything to do.

Ankle is feeling better.  The wiser people in my life tell me that basketball is absolutely out of the question for FRIDAY - but I may try to swim some laps at the gym later tonight.  Re-Hab.

OAA should be releasing their dates and shows soon.  It should be a really good year.  I'm not saying anything...okay well maybe if I really like you.

That is all for today - How bout no pictures....

That makes three...

Who really knows how long I can keep this up.  I'm still running a little late, but that is because I have two ankle bones at the moment.  It is however a good excuse to lay down and do nothing.  Don't you hate when you get a good nights sleep and you even are pretty lazy the whole afternoon-yet you feel sleepy and groggy the next day.  I hate that.  That is why I don't believe in snoozing on your alarm.  Not really enough time to explain my opinion on snoozing to you right now.

Still working on getting the repairs set up for the OPAC we need a few new "things" - we'll see what I can muster up.

Trying to envision my CATS set.  Anyone know someone who works in renting out scaffolding (sp?).  Oh yeah and I would like an elevator lift in one!?#@#  Yeah we got that...Up Up Up to the heavy side layer.

Had some good conversation about the TONY's yesterday.  Again I'm not trying to dog "Spring Awakening" I'm just saying it is not my cup of tea.  It is very creative - it is very innovative.  I'm not big on adapting plays - and I'm still not convinced that I want this play leading the revolution of creative thinkers on broadway.  Especially with people like Kander and Ebb still on broadway.

Good for "Spring Awakening"

I'll take ye olde school

Injury is always an excuse...

Funny thing happened at 7:00 this morning.

Those of you that know me, well know about morning basketball. Those of you that don't - there is a group of people 23ish - 50ish that on Tues. and Fri. play basketball here at OHS.  Most think that we are crazy, but it's been going on for almost 10 years now.  Any way, for the second time - I busted my ankle.  Not as bad as the first time where I actually broke some bone off of my ankle, but enough so that I got a mad limp.  So there is the reason for missing the time limit.

Going to finsih blocking Little Women today since I can't really move anything.

So that is all from the land of peoplel who pretend to be younger than they really are.

Wow! Is this really happening?

First of all I doubt it.
While talking with some BLOG friends of mine this weekend - I thought of the 7:40 plan.  This is for the summer hours.  During school it may turn into the 1:40 plan - we'll have to see.  However the plan is to do this DAILY.  That is right folks I said daily.  7:40 - 7:50 is the time daily posting.  Yeah I know I've said this before, but we'll have to see what the summer brings.

So - I'm gonna have to keep them short:

Last night watched mostly The Tony's and watched enough of The Soprano's to know that the ending sucked - other than JOURNEY.

My opinon on the Tony's - I thought the overall presentation as really very well done.  The performances were all very well staged and all were a lot of fun.  My opinion on the big winner of the night SPRING AWAKENING...I've always claimed to be a throwback to the old school so you know already that this one was going to be tough for me to get into.  The fact that 19th Century German Kids are saying "It's a B***h" somewhat throws me for a loop.  Microphones in hands made it look like American Idol.  I haven't seen the whole show, but have a read a bit about it and listened to some of the soundtrack, and I'm not saying it's horrible.  Of course kids are going to like it - there parents are going to hate it.  It's getting a lot of praise and I'm sure the show is cool to watch.  If I was rich and could go to NYC and see it I would, but for now I am led  to think it's not my cup of tea.

Boys Jumping Around

So kids dive in - Spring Awakening - another reason for parents and those that fear the theatre to run in the other direction.  Don't worry there is always Legally Blonde -ugh or Mary Poppins -yeah!

 For my own shows:
Little Women is almost ready to rehearse.

CATS is ready to do something with.

Both are going to be great experiences.

Well I better keep it short and hopefully those that do read will leave comments so that I feel that BLOGSPIRATION.
